Another huge haul - sigh

Sometimes I think the possession of book takes centre stage over the reading of books. I went on another book buying splurge - some on line and some at the store. Behold - my insanity

The Legacy by T J Bennet
This one received a DIK at All About Romance and the story sounded very good with a seldom used setting.

Falling in Love by Pauline Trent
The story sounded interesting; it's a new author; it's a good price - Sold!

Stranger by Megan Hart
This one sounded intriguing. I've been tempted a few times to get it and I finally succumbed. Now that I have 3 books by Megan Hart, I'll actually have to try one.

Promises in Death by J.D. Robb
The only author I buy in hardcover, I never get tired of Eve, Roarke and the gang.

Shadowed Knight by Jan Alyce Avery
I noticed this one Barbara's blog a while ago and put it in my shopping cart just waiting until I had enough for free shipping.

The Gunslinger's Untamed Bride by Stacey Kayne
Though both the title and the cover make me shudder, I really enjoyed the last book by her.

Theresa Weir

Although I didn't have all her books, all the ones I did have are either a five or 4.5. After rereading Bad Karma, I knew I had to get the ones I didn't already have. They include

Long Night Moon
The Forever Man
Iguana Bay

Forever
One Fine Day

Rosalyn West
After reading a good review of The Pretender at DA, I was reminded how many times I've read what great books these are.
The Rebel
The Pretender
The Outsider
The Outcast
I have one of these listed on my spreadsheet, but I'm not sure I still have it. I haven't seen it around in forever. And what good is it having 3 books without the fourth?

So there you have it - my most recent books buys - some by new to me authors, some by authors I've read and loved and one by an author whose books I have but haven't read yet.

See? It's insanity I tell you

There's a quote I'm going to mangle 'If this is insanity then don't let me be sane' or something like that. I'm with ya all the way ;)

Because I need to budget a bit more I do have rules. I'm not allowed (and it's my own rule and for some reason it *bings* whenever I'm about to break it) I'm allowed 2 books if I've *never* read the author. I discovered the hard way that buying too many books by an author I've never read can bite me in the butt. And then I'm sad about money spent on books that could have bought me other books.

That said, I can't say I've ever seen a poor review for Hart so I think you'll be fine.

Now, if I've read the author and she works for me, no holds bar ;) I have every Kleypas book I could find and there are many I have yet to read.

But isn't a huge book buying spree just the thing to get the blood pumping? And you do really well reading (I'm finally coming out of that slump - squeeeee!) so if I read like you do I wouldn't think twice about the books I bought ;)

Good on ya. (Super sleepy but excited that you posted and wanted to let you know that I love it! Okay, I think I'm in rambling mode. Signing off!)

At least you keep a spreadsheet!

I'm on a book buying moratorium (which can and is violated when using gift certificates, of course) (or when I really really really want the book) (or... well, I think that's it)

any way, where was I?

Oh yes, I'm in a bookbuying moratorium until I read at least all the books in my "to review" list--or an equal number from my TBT mountain range, whichever comes first.

Do you think I fooled anyone?

I happen to live near two very good used bookstores. SO for new authors I TRY to find them used. Not always successful but most of the time I get lucky.

I too keep a spreadsheet and keep my TBB on my ipod (very nerdy of me, I know) The thought was that it would keep me from buying extra copies of the same book (which I have been known to do) and keep me from going on a buying binge (not so successful here).

Series are going to be the death of me. I'm very OCD about them. I tend to buy the whole darn thing sometime even before I read book one and decide whether or not I like it.

CindyS: Very good rules. I should try it.

Azteclady: Good try. *g* I was going to try a similar challenge but knew I didn't have the will power.

I'm a big Theresa Weir fan. In fact I considered both IGUANA BAY and AMAZON LILY for my ReRead Challenge this month but went with something else. *sigh* I wish she'd do contemps again.

And here I thought I went a bit crazy with the twelve books I bought in the last two weeks (thanks to a gift certificate but anyway). But you outdid me, LOL.

I like CindyS's quote: 'If this is insanity then don't let me be sane.'

Happy reading! :D

Cindy: I like that saying!! And it's not like I'm the only one is it? See - I have this battle going on inside - one part saying "you're nuts to spend this much money on books you don't get a chance to read all of" and the other side saying " oh why not?? It's not as if you're a big spender on other things. If it makes you happy go for it!"
I wish the first voice would just shut up!

AL: I get you. I try doing things like that but the car takes over on my way home from work - what with a book store being so close and all and well - since I'm there I may as well get out and go in. That's when I fold like a wet Kleenix.

Amyless: I need to do something like that too! Though not often, I do sometimes double up on books. When I get organized, I'm going to hold a book giveaway of all my doubles!

Rosie: She IS wonderful isn't she? I finished one of the books I just got and WOW - did it 'hit' me. The review is half done and I'll be posting it soon.

Taja: Don't you LOOOOVVVVEEEE gift certificates? Free books is a dream come true! My family knows how bonkers I am over books but I don't get as many as I would like :-(

Kristie, very, very nice haul :D The Theresa Weir, where did you get them... at the UBS? I was going to try to track down Cool Shade... but not sure if I'll be able to :)

Don't you get Lisa Kleypas in HC as well? I hope you enjoy Promises in Death :) I have the Pauline Trent as well... hard to pass up for that price LOL :)

Kristie - yep, I did my big book haul over 3 days - still waiting for some books!

Nath - I have Cool Shade and will send to you. I think it's even a second copy.

Nath: I ordered them from Amazon. Though they only cost 50 cents or less - the shipping is a KILLER!
And your right!! I DO get Lisa K in hardcover too.

Cindy: that's one of the benefits of ordering from sellers at Amazon - once I get past the scary shipping price I pay - they come in at different times so it's like present day every day. I had one waiting for me when I got home yesterday - the Stacey Kayne book.

Hey, Kristie!! I've put Shadowed Knight at the top of the TBR. There are just so many great books to read!! I wonder how I'll ever get to all of them. I also need to get crackin' on the Lora Leigh Breeds series I have two of them waiting that I need to start. Those Rosayn West covers are GORGEOUS!!!! And I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the Megan Hart stories. I hope you enjoy them. I still have Tempted waiting to be read as well. I've become such a slacker.

Great line up, Kristie!!!

Lea: *grin* There are a lot worse I suppose. I could be a sex addict or something like that. And SWEEEEEEEET that I won your contest. More. Books! I can never have enough.

Barbara: And you are probably in the early days of the TBR pile. Wait until it becomes a TBR mountain!!
And yep - those Rosalyn West covers are pretty good representation of the old time covers.
