Really Stupid Titles

Those crazy kids at Harlequin are doing it again to their Historical line. Would they please stop doing this!!

Harlequin Historical is NOT Harlequin Presents.
Now I'm not saying I'm not going to get these books. I think the HH line is a pretty darn good one, but please, get a load of these titles!!

Viking Warrior, Unwilling Wife
by
Michelle Styles

(could be Billionaire Warrior, Unwilling Wife)

The Viscount Claims His Bride
by
Bronwyn Scott

(could be The Millionaire Boss Claims His Bride)

The Viking's Defiant Bride
by
Joanna Fulford

(could be The Spaniard's Defiant Bride)

The Rake's Unconventional Mistress
by
Juliet Landon

(could be The Sheik's Unconventional Mistress)

The Earl's Untouched Bride
by
Annie Burrows

(could be The Italian's Untouched Bride)

Texas Ranger, Runaway Heiress
by
Carol Finch

(could be Greek Tycoon, Runaway Heiress)

See what I mean? Terrible titles!!

Hahahaha, they're running out of titles again.

I am sure that marketing at Harlequin has done *some* research on this...

... but I still hate these kind of titles with a passion.

And really, someone should think of poor apostrophes! It's a massacre, I tell you!

AL - I've accepted and laughed at this inane crap for the HP line - but when they start messin' with the HH line - all bets are off. Mock I will!!

Alys: Even if they did run out of titles *g* surely they didn't have to resort to this!!

Viking Warrior, Unwilling Wife? UGH!
The cover for The Viking's Greek Tycoon Mistress what not it pretty hot.

LOL! I agree with Katie. Viking Warrior Unwilling Wife, doesn't sound too romantic. Although, I'm not knocking the line. I've really gotten in to the Harlequin books lately!

So, basically, if they can't come up with a good title, they just describe the main characters?? LOL

LOL - too funny!!!

Oh, I've got to get me some HHs.

My absolute favourites are "Viking Warrior, Unwilling Wife" and "Texas Ranger, Runaway Heiress". LOL

LOL - you are so right, Kristie!

LOL, soooo funny! and what's up with the covers too?!?!?! although they are slightly better than Harlequin Presents.

They might be terrible, but I like them.
Each and every one of them makes me want to read those books.

The Earl's Untouched Bride is a bit puzzling as well - in a historical context, I'd have expected most well-born brides to be untouched. Why is it especially remarkable that this bride is a virgin?

I could live with Bronwyn Scott's title, but the rest...

Funny how we are all different, no? I have read a few categories despite their titles *thinking of Bronwyn Jameson's The Tycoon's One-Night Revenge*

AL: The titles won't keep me from reading the books, but why they have to even use them is a mystery to me.

Marianne: That's true isn't it? Which makes it even sillier!

Seneca: *laughing* despite being very shallow at times, if I were shallow in this area, the titles would make me NOT want to get them.

Nath: *g* I actually don't mind the covers - in fact as opposed to what I said to Seneca, in some ways I am shallow and while the title may turn me off of the last one, the cover makes me want to get it.

Taja: I noticed a while ago a few titles of this line were just dumb and I did a post on it. *sigh* I guess the powers that be at Harlequin didn't read that particular post :-)

Jace: I think my most (un)favourite is The Rake's Unconventional Mistress. To me that one screams 'ripped off from HP'.

Kate: Despite the stupid titles, I do so love this line.

Lori: There were even more - but they didn't have the covers up yet and it makes it so much sillier if you can see the book with the title.

C2: *laughing* something like that I think.

Barbara: I'm not knocking the line either. I've read some fabulous HH books!! Cheryl St. John, one of my favourite authors writes for them. And I give them complete kudo's for publishing books with unique settings and locations. But these wacky titles just have to go!!

Katie: I agree - hawt cover - and a book I'll probably get - despite not because of - the title *g*.

Maybe you should embrace some of these ideas, Kristie. When the stress of titling your own blog posts becomes too much, take a lesson from Harlequin:

- The Uncreative Publisher's Submissive Title (this one could get a little kinky, methinks)

- Virgin Blogger, Slutty Reader (or Slutty Blogger, Virgin Reader?)

- The Blogger's Defiant Quest

etc, etc. ;)
